hey guys. i have a 91 7.3 idi that im in the process of doing a e4od to 5spd swap to. today i went to bolt the flywheel up and found that it wont fit the crank snout. i measured the bore difference between the auto flexplate and the dmf flywheel and found .100
is there a heavy duty and light duty flywheel? im lost as i cant find any info on this.
am i doing something wrong?
thanks Kevin.
Can't help much on this one, but do u have this piece? Idk what it is but it was with all my other clutch flywheel stuff

i have that piece. it was behind my flexplate when i took it off. the problem i have is that my flywheel for the manual trans wont slide onto my crank. the flexplate and flywheel have two different size holes. the crank snout measures about 2.140 and the flywheel is about 2.040.

On my truck, that piece was like a super washer that went between the flywheel and the bolts. So it was crankshaft, flywheel, super washer, flywheel bolts (each may have had a washer as well?).
Mine came stock with a 5 speed.
I could have sworn someone recently had an issue going from auto to manual and there was a thicker spacer between the flywheel and crankshaft, are you sure there isn't anything still there?
im assuming its for and idi as the bolt holes are the same. the spacing isnt the problem here. if you look at the back of a dmf the piece that holds it together is too small inside to slide over the crankshaft. when i put the flywheel up it sits flush on the hub so theres nothing to center it other than the bolts.
Just ran out and measured the DMF that came off my truck (replaced it a few years back). I got 2.038" for the hub on the DMF, so looks like you have the right flywheel.
Crankshaft should have 9 bolt holes, like the flywheel has. Looks like the adapter has 10. The "super washer" shown above has 10 holes. Line up the flywheel with the crank, it only goes one way. One hole on the "super washer" won't get used.
BTW, I bet you're getting tired of lifting that heavy DMF, I darn near hurt myself several ways trying to monkey the old one off, and get the new one lined up, held in place with one hand.
