73 ford guy... What did you make your rear winch bumper out of? I have been wanting to have a rear bumper like that with a winch, but no idea what would be the best material to use

3/16 plate. It's the best happy medium. 1/4" is way too heavy.
My last stock bumper had a hinge for lisence plate with winch to pull through.
This bumper I wanted all business so it's the reason I made the recessed lisence plate holder on tailgate.

Just in case anyones wondering the bolts on bumpers are for outrigger tubes that Attatch front and rear with ****** blocks and gives me the ability to use both winches to upright me in case of a roll over. Never needed to use but I've reinforced internals of bumpers to withstand the pull by lifting a heavy gas welder off the ground , about 1200 lbs.

Shackle holders unbolt to install a fairlead or cable would bind

Tubes interchange to either side so there's 2 in total

I run wireless winch remotes on different frequencies

I also run 12voltguy dash mounted winch controls

I like that instrument panel. I wish I had the money for new gauges.

Thanks, it's a piece of stainless. Difficult to drill as it's such a hard steel. Gauges are now installed. Messed up the wiper/headlight hole a bit, just need a platic edge to border it to hide and straighten out. I have green turn signal lights on there too. One is on the top left of the big hole. The gauges illuminate a neon green background as well..

Sorry for the delay.

Eventually I'm gonna remake it with 18ga sheet, fiberglass was just too hard to get smooth.

Radiator Bottle

Want to keep this thread going so instead of doing a "Bump" i'll put in my modifications.

I put a very high tech overflow system in my truck.
First I spray painted the bottle black then I zipped tied it to the grille.
Drilled the hole in the top and put the hose in it.

(this is a pic of it zip tied to the hood latch because I have it all torn down. It usually is more to the pass side not in front of the radiator.)

This has got to be one of the greatest mods I've seen in some time. Southern enginering at its peak.

I'm thinking about building a rear bumper out of some scrap steel and diamond plate laying around. I want to make it have a receiver hitch on it so I can haul big stuff.

This thread kinda came to a dead stop. Does anyone else build custom stuff for their rigs?

Me? I'm using a bunch of spare parts to build my truck. The fabrication comes in when I put them all together. When I'm done, I hope you won't be able to tell that I did anything.

Mods include:

GM power steering pump
4X4 conversion
'77 grill swap
raised front bumper mounts for the 3" body lift
engine mounts (cut 351/400M mounts down for my 300 six)
exhaust
...and not really fab work, but lots of rust repair.

Future plans:

rear bumper
bedside tool box
roll bar

Before:

After:
