just curious why you went with WTO? i agree they have excellent service but its not hard at all to pull our gearboxes out and drill tap the holes. i ran my bronco with hydro assist for a number of years before going to full hydro.
actually quite the contrary, hydro assist can help save your steering system by taking the stresses off the steering box. as an added bonus it will also help smooth the steering out. it also adds a bit of redundancy, if the mechanical link fails, you can still turn. if you lose hydraulic power, you can still turn! its safer in my opinion.
what ram are you going with? i would not suggest anything bigger than 2". i ran that on the street and it was fine, its just on the trail if i didnt have my rpm's up it was a little slow. 1.5" x 8" should be perfect.
PS... put the biggest cooler you can in the power steering system and use a high quality fluid. if it foams and overheats your steering will act up. i got an AC condenser from the j-yard and put it in the return line.
