To find acronym list, at beginning of this forum search for "acronym list" and it should be about the 6th one down. I would provide a link but don't know how.

Yes, it can clear codes that set the CEL (it cannot detect DTC's that do not set the CEL) - thereby clearing the CEL.

To keep the CEL (check engine light) from coming on, your going to have to get a custom tune installed. Matt @ Gearhead writes a stock engine safe tune that deals with the CEL for '05 and up trucks that have "modified" EGR systems.

Something like that, but a SCT tuner is only the method to install the tune. You still need the "tune" (software) for the truck. Since your EGR cooler has been deleted...and your running a '05 truck you'll need a custom tune to address the CEL for the lack of EGR flow. Something like this is what you might want to look into:

Gearhead Automotive Performance

Matt is well respected among the diesel nuts around here. But for the record, I'm not running any of his tunes. I'm still running a stock truck for now.

If i am reading that correctly if i buy that tuner (SCT's Xcal 3) i can get extra mileage and with their Street Race Lite (SRL) tune it can clear the CEL for the egr? is that correct?

it says on there "All Gearhead Files Include EGR Code Tuning"

Using SCT's Xcal 3, Gearhead Automotive Performance has programs available that extract extra mileage and performance over the already good pre-loaded programs provided by SCT on the SF3 device. We recommend the default files in the Xcal device for the average driver but if you want extra performance Gearhead can supply you with custom files after your purchase.
SCT Xcal 3: $425 Plus Shipping

does "matt" have a handle on this site?
