vibration @ 65 plus
#17
Got a weird vibration around 65 and up on my Excursion. New ball joints, shocks, tires(Had them balanced 3 times but still haven't ruled them out) Had driveshaft checked by a really good local driveshaft shop, rear end oil changed and shows no signs of any problems. Also new front rotors.
Worse when the camper is on there, dude at the tire shop said everything looks good and blamed it on the driveshaft which I told him already checked out.
What else? Tires are almost a year old but still look new, don't wanna ink up on new ones doubt tire shop would help.

How loose is the steering on your Excursion? I had a vibration that would almost shake the coffee cup out of the holder in my 2000 Excursion at about 75-80 mph. After changing the tires 90% of the vibration went away. After replacing the steering gear box I can finally drive without the lane weaving and the vibration is gone.
Edit: Like most have said I would suspect the tires first. I had a vibration in my F-250 also. After rotating the tires the vibration did move. It was finally narrowed down to a tire that was worn unevenly.

Had the Hunter Road Force computer ride matching done at Discount Tire and It got rid of 90% of the vibration. Still think one of the tires has a defect but I am happy with the results.
Less than one week after Merchant Tire balanced my tires for the third time and blamed everything under my truck for the vibration, Discount Tire hooked me up. Sad part is it was $80. Next time I need tires I'll check their prices first.
Thanks everyone for your input.

Alrighty, the road force balance helped a lot but the main problem turned out to be a sticking rear caliper along with warped rear rotor. Got them switched out and NO vibration. Chased this for a year or so with all kinds of things fixed that were needed tlc anyway, but rear rotor along with sticking caliper was the culprit. Hope this helps someone else. Thought for sure it was a tire but took one off my other truck and moved to all corners of the truck with no change so went back to the drawing board with something that should have been more obvious haha.
Thanks all.
Thanks all.
