The guy who is building my trans wants to use the tugger VB instead of the BTS. What should I do? He's telling I'll really like how the tugger shifts. Sounds more like a warranty issue to me cause he doesn't know about the VB that Brian makes. I'll try out the tugger for now but can I just swap it out if I don't like how it shifts.
I thought Brian used the Tugger parts in his VB? He just goes through the valve body to make sure it's all up to spec and does the install himself so you don't have to mess with it. I don't think there's anything wrong with the tugger kit.
Anyone else. Can I just swap put the VB if I don't like how the tugger shifts
Yes you can always just swap the accumulator valve body out. Depending on which kit you have installed, that may or may not change everything. On the tugger kit there is also some mods to the main valve body that you would not get with just a BTS valve body. Part of those mods involve drilling holes so you can't technically go back from that without buying a new main VB or trying to plug the holes. There are different sizes of holes that can be drilled, so you could always start smaller and work your way up if it made you feel better.
Personally, I think you're way over thinking this. Either option will be absolutely fine. The transgo kit makes the shifts crisper, not neck snapping.
If you've been live tuned, the line pressure affecting shift points may have been adjusted for what you have. You should email Jody and get his input and follow that. Whatever he did to the line pressures during live tuning will hold the answer for you. And the answer may even be it doesn't matter.
Just got DP Tuner and John Wood VB on 02 Ex and it's totally new vehicle. Shift are perfect and picks up speed twice as fast. Can't wait to do Johns TQ.
