I recently purchased an 06 F350 CC DRW with the towboss package. I know that this has 4.30 gears what else is included in this. Is it just a finned aluminum diff cover or is a different axle. Does this mean that my axle weight would be the same as a F450. I have heard it told both ways that it is just lower gears and a cover, or that it has F450 running gear to include brakes. Thanks for all your incredible knowledge.

 

I rooted around a pretty good bit and still can't directly answer your question. Here is some good info though, if you haven't seen it.

Late in the 2005 model year, Ford came out with a new option for F-350 DRW pickups. It was called the TowBoss pkg. It included a beefed-up rear axle with a 4.30 axle ratio, and that increased the GCWR by 2,500 pounds to 26,000 pounds. But that was a fairly rare option.

The Towboss Pack. must be ordered with a 6.0 diesel, and auto trans. It is only available in an F-350 DRW config. It includes the trailer brake controller and mirrors. You can order the Tow Command System which is everything except the 4.30 gears. Second set of figures is with 4.10's.
