When my truck is sitting at a light or at idle, the engine produces a knocking sound. I do not think its a suspension part since I am sitting still. I checked my oil and its not low. It is a hollow sound but sounds like metal to metal. 1990 5.0 efi. Just had a new head gasket and intake put on and valve job professionally done so I think they'd tell me if my pushrods were bad. Plus they looked fine whe I saw them. It sounds like this 1990 F150 5.0 V8 engine clanging.MPG - YouTube but much quieter. Please help. Truck has not run any different than normal
did the lifters get replaced when the head job was done?
does it start when the motor is still cold or does it show up later once it reaches temp. have you checked that the exhaust manifold bolts are tight along with the collector bolts to the y pipe?

ok lifters have not been replaced. Purolator Oil Filter 10w30 oil. It does this no matter if engine is cold or not. ill check the exhaust bolts again. last time i checked em a month or so ago they were tight
Think I can hear it but hard to be sure, record it again but from standing outside hood up not sitting in cab. Noises tend to be hard to diagnose even when heard in person, even harder yet recorded played on internet!
Give us three conditions,
While at "idle"
give is couple few "revs" so we can hear rpm changes and effect of same (no need go crazy high with them)
and then high rpm speed, while held "steady" at say 1800rpms.
Connect a vacuum gauge directly to a port on the intake, include its "reading" in video/audio recording please.
