Speedo Trip Odometer Build
This is my first thread. I have been wanting a trip odometer for for my 78 for some time now so the other day I decided to give it a try. It's not finished, final face needed, but it works!

I started with a few faces and one 1985 truck speedo w/trip.

Removed the face and trip to fit and cut down the temp faceplate.

Cut down the highbeam plastic oval for clearance & test fit:

Drilled for the reset rod: (it chipped Da**)

The faceplate that comes with the '85 speedo is too wide, too short and doesn't fit but for testing it worked well.

Doesn't look too bad for a first try.

But this one from 1978 isn't too bad. It's hard to cut those narrow number rectangles out....

I have cut a proper face plate above but not the mounts; their locations are different widths and will have to be adapted & glued onto the back of the face plate. Then I hope to change the face to our 100mph face but don't know if the gearing will bring it into spec.
The 85mph face is correct for the 18t gear and this 1985 truck speedo. Yea!!!
If you are going to try this you will need a few faceplates and at least 2 extra clear lens; they are brittle so figure the first will break or chip... Also the rear white plastic housing needs major mods and you probably won't want to destroy your original so grab a couple of those too. Pick & Pull's 50% off day worked for me...
I'll update when I get the final faceplate and gearing!
