Dennis,
I know there is a shot bed in Castroville Texas, about 25 miles west of San Antonio. I think it is for sale, but not certain, It is white and it is at mechanical Equipment maintenance shop. They have several company owned SD trucks with utility bed on them, it maybe a take off. I can stop by and ask if you are interested in it. I will be going by there on Tuesday. Let me know.
Hey Bob if it isn't out of your way out all and doesn't take up to much of your time and wouldn't mind stopping that would be great. Maybe get an idea of how much beds are going for.....
The problem with living in NY is that everything is so damn expensive! Thats why I am looking for one down here. I have seen multiple beds in NY going for 2-3k in pretty bad shape.
Hey, maybe I can meet you for lunch one day...the Houston Medical Center is not too far from downtown where I work. As for a pickup bed, Houston is a fantastic place to shop for one. 5 million people in the area, no rust (typically), and tons of pickups.
I'll ask if anyone at Diesel Innovations (David Lott's shop) knows of a good deal as well...I need to go pick up a small item there, and haven't been there in years. They deal with a ton of PSDs.
Philip:
Sorry, Austin is about 2.5 to 3.5 hours away from Houston (depending on which side of this huge metro area you live in). However, there is a teeny tiny possibility we might go that way that weekend. I'll send you a PM if we do. While you're there, you gotta go see some live music, it's the Live Music Capital of the World. If Monte Montgomery is playing that weekend...it's a no brainer, he's the best.
get down here in the RGV, and they go for 200-400 w/ tailgate.
Wow, that's cheap. I'll be getting ahold of you next time I'm looking. They're pretty proud of them here in Central Texas, a perfect tailgate goes for $300-500.. Ridiculous. Dennis, I wish you were looking for a long bed, I've got a white one sitting on stands next to the shop.
ya izzy I wish I had a long bed, I always said I wouldn't get a short bed....but I got to good of a deal on this truck to pass it up, so short bed it is for now.
thanks for all the help guys.
I just got down to Houston a half an hour ago, pretty long ride today, lots of traffic.
I called a few places in the area, some of them have beds, now I just need to figure out how to get it home.
You two be sure to enjoy your stay in Texas. And just for grins, be sure and check the weather forecast before you head back home. After doing that you'll think twice about maybe spending an extra day or two down here.
I hear they're getting snow up in the Northeast already. It's been in the pleasant 80's here.
Ya I left Long Island saturday morning at 5 am and drove through about 5 hours of snow on the way down. Everyone around us got hit hard, millions without power. Thankfully LI wasn't bad at all.
I'll be down here till around Nov 12 or so, nice break from home thats for sure.

Hey Dennis.
You were about 35 miles from me when you came through Lake Charles, La. I'll be watching this thread for when you start your trip back.
Hi Rick. Ya I saw some signs for Lake Charles. It was def. a nice ride down here, I have never been to Texas before, and never really been this far south and west. Should be a nice trip, minus working doubles and weekends till this job is done haha.

I install Hyperbaric Chambers in hospitals. So I am down here for 2 weeks working in 2 different hospitals installing 6 chambers total. So we install all the piping and valves and vents to do the install.
So far I found a few beds down here. I have a place in Dallas that will sell me a short bed, tailgate, tail lights, bumper and brackets shipped to NY for 1750. Thats seems like a pretty good deal to me considering I have seen that set up by me go for around 3000-3500. Plus only 350 for shipping seems like a pretty good deal.
I know nothing about this guy, just stumbled across his ad. Not what your looking for, but in the background of his pics are racks of truck beds. Might call him and see what he has, pretty dang good price for '11 bed. 2011 Ford F-250/350,8ft.BED (box-only)
Edit
My bad, I didn't read that thoroughly. Not that great of a price.
