Looking for input
The wife went to take the truck (97 Expy) to the grocery store the other day and found that the battery was dead. So when I got home I boosted it and we went out got what we needed and when we came out we needed another boost. Anyway when we were driving back I noticed that I didn't have any speedo but the rest of my guages worked. When I got home I shut off the truck but the heater fan didn't shut off. With the keys in my hand out of the ignition I could turn the blower up to high and it would blow harder. Weird or what? Today I was going to tow a parts car down to my place for my other car and the speedo still wouldn't work but now if I'm in drive the tranny won't shift from first gear. Does anyone have any ideas or at least a place to start?

I would start by looking under the dash for signs of water leaks at the driver side of the windshield and the GEM. If you have signs of rust near the E brake you may have a leak in that area. If water leaks into the GEM and/or fuse box it could cause all kinds of electrical issues.
I would also check the area of the trans to verify the wire harness is in good condition and plugged in properly.
