Chime module location

I looked this up in an 00 FSM, and it shows the chime generator as part of the GEM. The GEM is located under the dash, to the left of the steering wheel, near the kick panel.

This is for an 00, so it may not coincide with yours; hope this helps and good luck.

Dick, I should have made that more clear. The GEM is the "Generic Electronic Module". It is a single unit that controls the warning chimes for: Key in ignition with door open, Safety belt unlatched, Door ajar, and Lights on with door open.

Later model Fords have them, but I'm not sure what year they started. The GEM should be located somewhere near the driver's side kickboard, up under the dash.
Hope you find it OK.
Don

Don,
I had a fairly good look but so far have come up empty handed. My 89 F250 which works, appears to be coming from the right side of the column but again I cant really idendify the unit. It's busy under these dashes.
Thanks, I'll keep looking.

In my 2000 F250 the chime is inside the fuse box. You have to remove the entire box with a 10mm then open the plactic case. You will find the chime on the back of the panel. -Brad

Chime module location

Well, I figured it out. My chime module is missing, I found the connector that goes to it but not connected and nothing to connect it to. It's located in the area below the ashtray radio etc. I'll have to go a dealer to see what it looks like to make sure mine is missing, go figure!
Thanks for all your help.

I'm not saying your wrong about what the missing connector is for, but I'd verfy it with someone who has the same truck. The reason I say this is that on the older model trucks the chime was indeed located to the right of the steering column - it's always the first thing I disconnect when I buy a vehicle. I HATE that stupid chime. Anyway, when I bought my 97 F-150 I searched for hours trying to pin down the location of the chime, and it turned out to be just what a previous post said: part of the GEM that is built into the fuse box. I furious about that because I can't find a way to disconnect it. Anyway since yours is a new truck, I figure the chime is probably still in the same location, as opposed to FORD going back to the old way.

Thanks, I'll let you know how it all works out. My 97 F350 is the old style if you recall, whereas your F150 is the new style. I should take my 89 apart as it sounds as though the chime is right where this connector is.
I'll post a final.
Thanks again
