What spider gears do i have???

So i'm trying to figure out what gears i need to replace what i have now (front axle, D60), and i have no clue about spider gears... i'm lookin on RockAuto.com and there's two different choices... one's $15, the others $90... how do i figure out which one i need?

Don't know which ones you have, but if you were considering a locker in the front before, how munched are the spiders? This would be an extremely cheap fix for you...although I still don't recommend it

well i guess that it would be "better" since mine's the front axle not the back... but at the same time, i haven't welded since high school, and haven't got around to getting a welder yet... still haven't got around to pulling the diff cover off, but i'm building my list of parts and prices, so i figured i'd find out... lol i figure with my bonus comin in, i plan on pullin the injectors and sendin them to Jim, so i might as well fix the rest of the problems while it's parked...

Knowing our gov't, you're bonus will likely get "lost" in the mail. Thanks for your service all the same

I guess the easiest way to tell what you got is look up the numbers on the axle my numbers was on the axle tube on the passenger side of center chunck about middle of truck with the numbers might tell you what you need

Yeah, there's no tellin, but the marine corps treated me right (for the most part) for 4 years, so it's worth it to me. But thank YOU for appreciating it! You wouldn't believe the faces/comments/attitudes I've seen when I say "I'm a Marine".

Ok, I'll have to crawl under there (probably when I troubleshoot) and check out the numbers... thanks again guys!

if you go this route i HIGHLY suggest adding hydro assist steering or it will be a matter of time before you snap a sector shaft! you also have to be very aware of what you do while its locked! trust me, i have been there (steeirng with no steering is VERY scarey but can be done!). my truck is currently welded up front but i very rarely lock both hubs in at once and never EVER on hard ground! also, i highly recommend after welding you take your carrier to a machine shop and re-true the mating face where the ring gear bolts to the carrier. otherwise you will never get good gear mesh.

just some advice from someone who has been there!
