Be the best Dad to your kids that you can. There have been many many times I have looked back at events in our lives that have brought joy and a sense of accomplishment that just can not be match. It's all about doing what's right because we do what's right ............ Now at 61 yrs I am doing it again with a 5 yr old Granddaughter that I have permment guardianship. Today there just were times that this little one was just a joy to be around and that feel good feeling deep inside that comes from see her getting past the horror of her past ...... I feel at peace with the world

Well guys, it seems like I'm getting back on schedule. The week camping in Yosemite cut short by the passing of my Father-In-Law really got me out of whack.
Also, apologies for those that gave reps recently and didn't get a "thank you" from me. I try to always send individual "thanks" via the visitor message system, but due to circumstances, that hasn't happened with the latest rounds people have sent over the past week or so.

In putting together info for my FIL's obit, we learned he lied about his age so he could join the Army. He was 16 when he joined.
He was in for four years, accruing enough service points for honorable discharge in November 1945, after WW2 was over. During his 4 year stint, he rose to the rank of Tech Sergeant and was in charge of a crew of 12 that serviced, maintained, and repaired a fleet of tanks, jeeps, and M34 cargo trucks. The M34 was the predecessor to the M35 "deuce and a half" trucks.
He was awarded several medals, including the Bronze Star.
We were blessed to have him for as long as we did.
