649,079 registered users WOW, but how many are Ford partsguys? Since Ed Olson (partsguyed) has departed (due to a stroke), AFAIK that only leaves one that posts on regular basis.
There is one other, but he doesn't post all that much, cuz it's hard to do when one is working the parts counter.
Good, experienced parts guys can make a mechanics job so much easier, and make them look good while doing it. Good parts guys are becoming harder and harder to find. If they don't have a vin number and a computer, they are screwed. NumberDummy is certainly one of FTE's finest!!

Unfortunately that is so true. I just had a run in with my local ford parts guy when I was trying to fix my Electronic shift motor. He asked for my vin to get the part and I STILL got the wrong part and had to swap out a piece on the old motor for the one that came with the new motor so it would fit back on to the truck. It was a pain but I still got the job done.
I know with some of the stuff, a computer is needed. But it amazes me how sometimes some of the simplest things, they need a computer, and if it doesn't come up, you don't get it.
On day I went with my brother and he needed a brake valve for a trailer he was working on. He went in the store and gave the guy a part number for the valve he had. We had the old one with us for a core. The guy said he didn't have one. My brother said yes you do because I can see one sitting on your shelf from here. The guy said no I don't. My brother said can I go back there and get that on I see? He said yes. Goes back and gets it, shows it to the guy and, although it had a different number, my brother told him that the same valve uses about 4 different numbers. The only difference is how much they cost. He had memorized the number that gets him the cheapest price!
It's almost getting to the point where you need to know what you want before you ask the parts guy. I also had to get a replacement front ford logo for my grille and wanted the newer version that the '08s had and the parts guy just looked at me like I was crazy because I was asking for a part that "wasn't designed for my truck" So I asked him to look up if he had any and he came back with "yes we do and according to the computer it looks like this one supersedes the one for your vehicle."
