Hey guys I usally post in the IDI side, but I have a problem with my brothers 97 psd he's i florida and i'm in NC. he thought that he had some bad gp's so he unhooked the harnesses and checked them out but when he hooked it back up he lost the the front two cyl. on the pass. side. i have a whole 2000 engine harness plus change the uvc harness and gaskets. has it been done before. my local diesel shop that deal with alot says that the replace ment ends can not be butt spliced on so thats why i'm looking at this way.
You can just put new plug ends on the wiring harness if that is what you need. Keep track of the wiring and just solder the splices. Burnt pins in the connectors happens a lot.
What is he butt splicing if he's not replacing the connectors? Maybe I'm not following your question right. Any kind of wiring should be soldered. I'd NEVER trust a butt splice. How hard is it to warm up the wires with a solder gun and melt the solder on it? Tell him its time to learn if it's going to be done right.
