Does this sound RIGHT??????
I doubt you need a High Press oil pump
Best thing that you can do is get a Scangauge and study up the tech folder
www.scangauge.com
A scangauge will read all that you need it to to check the oil cooler and HPO and a ton of other stuff
No Gauges your pretty much at there mercy and I can see there bending you over with NO LUBE
so lets start with info on the truck like year recent work anything
you will need to monitor ICP and IPR% to see conditionof HPOP
SG will get those 2 plus these well worth the 160.00 and its plug and play into the OBDII port it will see everything the PCM is using to run the truck

The ScanGauge will help you narrow that down and probably save some $.
FWIW I dont think you need a High press oil pump
If you did it wouldnt run at all right now
there is a slight chance the HPOP has to much end play but not to common
im thinking ICP sensor or IPR valve or something but not a pump
the Scan gauge can scan for codes to usualy the CEL will have to be on for the SG to pick it up
Seems that the 03 EGR coolers were very tough, better than the 04's and up.
How did his diagnostic tool show the oil cooler was plugged?
Here is something I found in the spread sheets, does this sound like your truck?:
"Rough idle issues, rough running motor, loss of throttle peddle and bucking, not starting, high to low idle then no power, motor was shaking, etc.:"
" have seen several trucks with the exact symptoms you describe. When I was able to actually experience the concern, I found that the ICP pressure reading from the ICP sensor was very erratic and would sometimes read 1100psi with the key on engine off. These trucks (and one van) would sometimes set a code P0299 (turbo underboost) after the "dead" pedal symptom occured. Replacing the ICP sensor and connector has cured all of them. "
The wire connector on the 03 ICP's were a problem, and needed to be replaced when putting in a new ICP.
Part# for sensor 3c3z/9f838/ea The # for the connector is 5c3z/12224/a
And Sean is right your 2003 has the round EGR cooler they are pretty much bullet proof
Great Catch Sean
Im with ya on the ICP sensor in the 2003 there in a bad spot its very hot right there
here it is
check it out see if the wires are melted together or something odd
