front leaf springs

so ive been thinking about getting around to looking for front leaf springs for the ol 250. i have done the d60 swap last fall and have been getting by with add a leafs in the front but i see that as a temporary solution. im looking for 4 inch lift springs and wondering what y'all are useing. i need something pretty stout as i plan on hanging a plow on this truck.

Didn't read the 4" lift, there are very few people who put out heavy duty lifted springs, usually they soften them. It's kinda dumb IMHO.
I'd almost suggest getting a shackle flip setup to emulate the raise, and just use stock heavy duty leafs.

I know you chimed in on my post about adding my d60 so you know I went with arched springs and an add a leaf. I started out with positive arch f350 springs though from my donor truck. I am really happy with that setup. Something to consider though... the guy at the spring shop said that the super duty springs out of the older super dutys (late 80s early 90s ??) are bolt in and offer about 4" over stock iirc. He said he can get those and people have loved them. I can't remeber what he said price was tho... maybe $160 per spring... it wasn't too bad whatever it was and it's a stock ford spring so that's good for durability etc... I thought about the shackles flip too but just didn't want to go to that much trouble.

Reeeellly... ive heard about the SD swap but for some reason i thought the SD springs were longer. this is something i will investigate.

i have thought about the shackle flop but like you i dunno if i really want to do that.

I'll try and give him a call and ask him the specifics when I have a minute. Remeber it's the older super duty springs he was talking about. The newer ones are longer for sure. I don't have any personal experience with this, only what he told me so I can't verify anything but he hasn't steered me wrong yet...

Country, only reason I suggest it, is I've been looking at lift kits and they all seem to want to lower the capacity of my truck, then you gotta add helper springs, or air bags, the shackle flip keeps the capacity, seems to be strongly connected to the frame, as well as do a lift. I haven't done one, so I can't confirm or deny any of that, but thats my take on it. Might be a little late in the game as I imagine you've dropped a decent chunk of change on lifting your truck, but coming from one that's stock (mine) it seems to make the most sense.

well no not really, like you said lift springs will derate your truck, ive made it work with add a leafs and rear blocks but il looking to go a better way. ive thought about the shackle reversial but (and i could be wrong) i thought it moved the front axle back just a touch. i like the idea of the SD springs. im going to look into it and ill let you know
