Why didn't I think of that? I'll attack it after work. I have to act like I'm interested in cabinet job # five hundred and something for a while so my employees don't turn on me.

I sell car wash soap, so I have to pretend the public is out washing their cars.

I was eating lunch on my last response here, sitting in my truck and I am answering you... Solving my problem, I am just going to run a new light from Napa Auto Parts from those wires I found and be done with it. No harm no foul, probably work better.

The fuse block per se just "presses", on on to the head light switch. The tab from the head light switch go into female connectors on the rectangular fuse block. You should be able to lift it off from the switch and examine it better.

Thanks for all your help. I removed the instrument panel and found the press in button to remove the stem from the switch. Of course it was rusted so I had a tough time getting it pushed in. Finally I pulled the stem and the switch. With some cleaning and a little re routing of wires, I now have panel lights and idiot lights(unfortunately the charge light stays on) so now it's generator/regulator time.

A lose belt will also give you a Gen lite. Of course, loose connections will as well.

I cleaned all three terminals on the generator, then removed the cover on the regulator. I found with the engine at idle you can manually touch one set of points together and they arc just a bit and then stay contacted. At this time the gen light is off. I assume this means the generator is putting out. I also found that if I turn the ignition off at this point, the light stays on (discharging at rest). Can I assume the generator is operating, and the problem is in the regulator? Electrical has always been my worst area.
