When did the switch occur with the fuel filters for our trucks? I always used the 1847170c92 (now 1847170c94). The new primary filter is different than what I took out (the end that goes first into the housing. What gives? and what is the correct part number?
The filters changed about a year ago. Navistar 1847170C94 is the number...or at least that's what I've got written down. The Ford p/n is 3C3Z-9N184-CB.
The change was done to provide better sealing of the filter to the housing and prevent unfiltered bypass/leakage.
It does require a little more force to install. I use a torque wrench when tightening my filter cap and I have to go real slow or I'll get a premature torque click of the wrench before the cap is fully seated. Just make sure the cap seats on the flange face of the housing and you should be good.
