EPDM roof leak

Trying a DIY EPDM leaking roof repair on my 2007 Weekend Warrior. It has been leaking around the front edge of the shower skylight and there is slight damage to the wood underneath.

I'd post pictures but FTE won't upload them today.

Yes repair replace the damage wood if it is soft. After the repair glue the rubber roof back down. Use six inch wide roll of EternaBond to seal all seams in that area. Also use the EternaBond any other seams on your roof no more leaks after that!! EternaBond comes 50' & 25' rolls it is expensive but is the best for long last repairs

The skylight was damaged from too much pressure when the screws were installed and they didn't have the seal material in the channel.

The water leaked from the skylight corner by the tank vent and the wood underneath is soft. This is going to be a PITA to repair.

Skylights are constant source of roof problems and are simply problem children in the world of roof design. The ones I buy come only with a single tube of sealant and no tacky tape and I always use tacky tape under the flange, then a heavy bead of Dicor all the way around after screwing it down, usually two tubes. Of course, I am not running an assembly line where I am trying to see how fast I can go either.

Working carefully, I do think you will be able to make a suitable repair.

Good luck,

Steve

New skylight installed with tacky tape and new, larger screws.

Dicor and the first strip of Eternabond. The water really pools behind the skylight due to the slope of the roof.
I'll wait until the Dicor cures a bit more to put the rest of the Eternabond around the skylight.
The front cap seal of the trailer is next inline for new Dicor and Eternabond as alot of water also pools there. The vents, antenna, and reefer vent also need new Dicor.
I'll scrub the entire roof with TSP first to get it all clean before I continue with those projects. Then it's all new clear silicone on marker lights, windows, etc.

I like the looks of the repair. More is better in this case.

Thanks, guys!

It's a lot like painting, good prep is the key. Prep takes time and effort so the finish will last. Scraping/prying off the old Dicor sure is a bear!
