engine cover leak no start hot

06 f550 36k miles. Was hard to start when hot. Now has gotten to point where it won't restart hot. Left it running the last time we used it and it started leaking oil. Found rear engine cover cracked up at top and leaking. Can these be ralted. Irc and ipc both working.

The high pressure pump has a snap to connect fitting, probably let go and cracked the cover. No high pressure oil, no start.

Thanks. The cover is cracked right behind the pump location. Split down from top. Could the fitting crack that cover

Yes. They can disengage with enough force to crack the cover. It's not common but it does happen.

Yeah you have to either pull the engine or the trans, whichever you prefer. The rear cover, rear main seal, rear cover gaskets (o ring style) have to be replaced, along with the high pressure oil pump fitting that blew off, there is an updated one that does away with the quick disconnect. the new one screws on to the pump. Turbo has to come off, to access the hp pump cover and pump. It can be done with the intake left on.
