replacing icp sensor. 02 engine.

Hey guys, I'm in the middle of replacing my icp sensor and when I went to remove it, the bugger is round? There is a nut underneath it, but I'm not sure if that's just a mount it screws into? Where the threaded end of the sensor would be, is where this nut is located. My new sensor has edges where I can tighten it or loosen it where as this old one is round. Any advice? Try to remove it by wrenching on the nut part?

you need a crow's foot to get the old one out, I believe it was a 5/8"

shoot if it's bad I guess you might could get it with vice-grips on the round part

The old style is removed with a 5/8" open end on the hex portion.

The new one can be installed with a deep 1 1/16" socket.

Edir: Lubricate the the new o-ring. Motor oil works fine.

Thank you everybody. I got screwed in the middle of this operation by having no 5/8s crow wrench so I got a tiny pair of vise grips on the nut and pried against it and within a 1/4 turn it was loose. Beautiful thing that innovation

That's right! Put fifty miles on already and noticed better, quicker starts, and better smoother acceleration thru the power range.
