Anybody running these, on there STOCK 2wd S.D'z? Just received mine, and installed the one side, but damn, not much "travel" if you ask me. I think i can install a 6in lift, and still run these shocks. zSomeone convince me, these will be fine
Stewart, glad you sped read this post, becauset hose Bilsteins, Chris was rocking, werethe ones i was gonna order.
Chris, i think atmost, 4in of travel, but the "body" of the shock, heck it was as long as the stock shock removed, fully extended..
Gonna hook trailer up tomorrow for a desert weekend, so before putting the load leveling bars on, i'll take a gander at how much is left in travel. But i swear, these shocks will easily give me the room for a lift to be installed, but for now, but 100miles on unloaded, and sure is nice withthe new shoes on her as well...I purposely hit this dog-leg right on the 91, in O.C. beofre the 55s, and everytime before, hitting hit, it would pick up the truck and toss it to the other lane, everytime...this time, uh-uh, not one toss/flinch..etc, just trucked right over it.
I tell you right now, that my travel is nowhere near, what yours is. I doublechecked that p/n to the place i bought it from, Amazon, 4-wheel parts..etc, ALL come back to what i have. What i found out that sux, is that the 5100 series, once you start plugging away your make/mdl/yr..etc, it then throws you the "yellow" series shocks. Guess the 5100 are not available for the "stock" 2wd...bummer
No. The 5100 series is only for lifted trucks in our application. If you can return them, try the Rancho shocks. I replaced the yellow bilsteins in my back end with these Rancho's and I couldn't be happier.
The silver shock with a red boot also looks better than baby blue and yellow.
Guys, check this out...Was at customers' house today, b.sing about his boat and toyhauler, then we started shoot'n the sh&^ about our trucks..(he gots a 6-leaker). Anyway, over by his truck, and noticed it leaking water, what he thought was "dew" from the morning..nope, it was coolant, i tasted it...but the reason for this post, was that i checked out the rear swaybar setup. Interesting enough, the setup was off the shock brackets, but what through me off, was the "position" of the bracket. I'm thinking, if the body of the shock allows me to, is to, undo the u-bolts, and allow the bracket/bolts to slip under the axle, allowing more travel to my shocks?
Up to this point however, i have yet to "bottom out" the shocks, butthen again, i pre-loaded the crap outta the load-leveling bars, too. Unloaded, dont think theres an issue, BUT if any substantial weight in the bed, might then, come into play
