Who would supply an intermediate steering shaft other than Ford? Mine's giving me a bump/clunk noise at the steering wheel. I've tried online- Rock Auto; Napa; Dorman, and have found no listing for my 02 F150 4x4. I haven't checked Ford's local pricing yet by phone but online showed no listing at the site I used. I would imagine Ford's price will be super expensive.
Try the FTE vendor Partsguyed.com! They are a Ford dealer and have been very helpful in the past sorting out parts. They will answer any questions via email...
Before thinking of replacing it, I would take the intermediate shaft apart, clean all the splines with a solvent, and regrease using the black Moly wheel bearing/chassis grease. It could be the stick-slip phenomena.
My '97 had a recall on the original intermediate shaft. It was removed TWICE by the gang that couldn't shoot straight, the idiot dealer service dept. where I bought it... such a hopeless group I never saw before.
Thanks Jeff. Found a listing and great price, $200 cheaper the Ford here. I'll keep in mind if I want to go through the shipping/broker fees to Canada.
Torky2, I was thinking of pulling the shaft and seeing if the splines are worn badly or sticking. You just made up my mind for me. Thanks
