New over here

I just ordered a 2012 f-250 6.2L. I'm trading in my '08 6.4L. Going to miss the diesel but I'm looking forward to the new truck. I'll be hanging out over here more now, just wanted to say hi!

What's up? You'll like the 6.2. Mine pulls my camper just fine.

Welcome. Not sure if you got into the "6.4 liter blues", but if you did, believe me, you won't miss that BS. 9,200 miles on my 6.2 and love it. I've towed with it several times in excess of 8,000lbs with no issue at all. Somewhat like a diesel, it behaves almost better with a decent load.

My only complaint really is because of the shift strategies, the trans is kinda "shifty" when you just babying it. I can be doing 37mph in 6th gear....

I think 5-star's got all that covered. Can't wait to make that call!!

XL s/c long box, cruise, power locks, windows, mirrors, cd player, brake controller, chrome bumpers, clearance lights, bed mat, splash guards, aluminun 17" wheels with the 265 tire option. It'll be vermillion red with vinyl 40/20/40 seats and being that it's an XL it'll have rubber floor. This one will HOPEFULLY be easier to keep clean instead of the carpet and cloth.

My 6.4 has been good to me except that it kills a set of batteries every year.(warranty) I've got a spartan on it and it runs great without the regens. I quite racing ATV motocross and don't pull the trailer every weekend so don't need the diesel anymore for the few camping trips that we do. I've read about the shifting issues and was hoping that for 2012 MY it would be cleared up.....any info on that?

Sounds nice, interested to see pics of the vermillion red. Isn't that a new color for the '12's?

I got the Husky liners to prevent myself (and kids) from trashing the carpets too much. They're holding up great so far.

Since you just ordered it, you could get a copy of the DORA (dealer order receipt acknowledgement) from the dealer and go over all the codes and compare them against the 2012 order guide (attached to this post), just to make sure the dealer got everything you wanted/expected.

Your dealer should be able to supply you with weekly updates (I think they get updated every Thursday evening) on where your order/truck is in the process.

Your truck will have all the latest and greatest trans fixes, I wouldn't expect there to be any issues but that's not to say there aren't any.

I agree with you that the 6.2 loves to have a heavy load. Towing the TT it was ok, was hopping for better. I added a 900 lbs golf cart in the bed it was awesome. Now I just put as much weight on the tongue as possible, looks like 15% is better then 10%, at least for this truck.

I do have the tune from 5 Star, and it does not get into 6th until 58. It's nice to be doing 55 and hit the gas and just go. No downshifting of searching for gears, it's already in the correct gear at the the right RPM's too.

not sure if that's a new color or not honestly, I test drove an xlt short box with that color and it was nice looking. I've got the DORA and we went over it before I left the dealer. And I just did it again, thanks for the link I'm not too worried about how fast it gets here because I'm buying it on d plan, which is for family of ford employees(my father). The snag is that they can only sell 2 d plans per year and he already used them for '11.(my brother and uncle) So I have to wait for Jan 1 to get it. They figure it'll be there mid december. So lucky me i get to stare at it for a couple weeks before I can actually take it home! It's going to be a long 3 months!LOL...sigh Also that's good to know about the tranny...keeping fingers crossed...

You are correct, it's the autumn red that's new. I couldn't remember which one was the new one...
