I have rently finished rebuildoing a 1984 351w and put a shift kit in my c6 transmission. when I reasembled the two I accidently left out the thin alunimum plate that goes next to the flywheel. The engine would start but the starter would drag .I since reinstalled the aluminum plate but ow the 4 studs that connect toeque convereter to the engine are not trousgh tne flywheel enough to get a nut started
any sugestions?
I can see two studs at the bottom of the transmission they are lined up properly but nort pertruding enogh to start a nut. Does lining up two of the four mean they are all correctly alined?
I just put my c-6 back in for the first time the other day. When I had the studs lined up and the bell housing alignment pins went in it all jived. It took me awhile to get it all lined up take your time and do it in small increments. From what I read here if that torque converter comes off the spline it will destroy the transmission when you start the truck. From my search everyone was saying whatever you do don't pull the trans to the motor with the bell housing bolts. Before you put the trans in push in on the torque converter and turn it to make sure its in. Then just line everything up and get it seated before you put any bolts in. My haynes manual said not to point the torque converter down at anytime when putting the trans in.
