Hi folks, yesterday I took my truck for an alignment and had the company take a look at the emergency brake. The brakes have not worked for some time and thought they might just need adjustment. They called me to say the brakes were all locked up and needed to be gutted and rebuilt form scratch. Intold them not to bother and that I would take care of it myself.
I went onto Guzzles site and found some info but it doesn't really pertain to replacing the brakes, more towards the axle seals. Is there any more info on this site that you know of. I've done some research but nothing that lays out the process.
Any help is appreciated
Glenn
Great write up Barry. Glen remember to check bearing close to. I had one starting to go bad and it made know noise. Also rough up the drum alot and shoes a little. You mit not have good e-brakes even when doing this. Fords e-brake on are superduty's just aren't that great. I did mine and they looked new and didnn't hold either. After replacing and readjusting they now work but not great. I mean it won't stop your truck, just hold on a slight incline when parking to keep the pressure off the trans.

Do i need to purchase a special tool to get the springs on and off? Makes sense to replace the seals and bearing. I really don't know what I'm getting into till I get it apart. Pictures only go so far t explain, but you are right it is a very good right up. Always a little apprehensive when I tear into my truck but usually say to myself after "that was no big deal".
I've got to gather the parts list and get the special socket. I'm not sure what type of axle I have yet. I know the article states he has a 10.5
I have a 2000 3.73 rearend
