Alright...good enough for me. Maybe i'll cut that half pipe looking thing, protruding into the "airstream". Not like its doing anything at the moment, and when time to smog, it'll only be plumbed into it, enroute to the station.
My daughter wants a shiba inu, but having gramps live with me, and his dog, gotta wait til times right..wouldnt mind feeding it to the new dog..
That's 2737.5 2 litre soda bottles of air! Each minute! At 1500 rpm! That's why most people put a piece of pipe in place of that plastic tube
Jim & fat eating his dinner now Monty
I had the stocker wheel in ,and didnt make this noise, i also had, before the turbo blew up back in April, a W.W., which never made any noise but boost/whistle noise, when making psi, BUT now, i got the XDP wicked wheel, and i'm ready to pull the damn turbo out, and rebuild her again, and check everything...this noise sux.
Besides the video clip, its like creating a rush/intake of air, but the boost isnt equaling to the air noise its creating.....
Did you do the foil delete? & is your 6637 boxed and "sealed" to the hood and across the engine side of the batt tray and along the back (firewall side) as that makes a big difference in how much noise escapes the engine compartment! What you've got is what most knuckle heads try avidly to create! I have been able to reduce my radiated noise with the creative use of herculiner on inside fender surfaces under hood on my AFE II air box/battery tray dyna mat inside to fill in gaps ttat fords matting missed! Outside mine sounds like a M1-A1 windows up inside it's not much louder than stock!

Foil delete, POS FIPK system (watta waste of $$$). I gess Jim, later today, i can take a look at that set-up, the "in-capture" for the filter, isnt all that great, i think f350-6 made a better one. I put the clear vynil in the tubing as for it was collapse, but still real flimbsy under there. Even with the 6637, it did it but a hellofalot quieter, and at a different rpm range.
I'll take a look, clean/install the 6637, and holler back. I tell you what though, at that 21/2200rpm, man this thing is ZINGING and i believe has WAY more power in that range as before, biatch can tow...woohoo.
diesel fitter...yeah, same here, but my boost gauge reads different, egt reads as to not having a leak, powers there...etc, but the noise tells me different. I had a turbo blow sky-high last April, and DONT want that to happen again, but think, the way i installed the W.W. caused that...wasnt "seated' correctly.
That foil delete I think is what is making the lions share of you're compressor noise! It's hard to tell from the short vid. but that is what it sounds like to me, that foil is on there for 1 reason only & that's to kill turbo compressor whine! And when you remove it and put on a e99 the loudest wheel they haver used! + inasall a open path intake= unbearably loud turbo whine! Find someone who wants to do a foil delete and trade CAC tubes with them, you will be smiling again

Yeah Jim, more i think, i did the foil delete WHEN the turbo blew up. Made sense, since everything was apart, but installed the stocker wheel...i have 1 more thing i'm goona see if its it, and thats a 1-inch hole in the firewall i made, WHEN i put the w.w in, made it for power wires to run though. Gonna block it with million mph tape.
On way to dropping daughter off, another description would be, the annoying mud-terrain tire sound you here, with new tires, thats the sound as well, at those rpms.
beginning to think, it sounds more like this...i didnt want to post the"link" from the forum, but he ended up tearing the turbo down ,to find the w.w hitting the compressor housing (inside), and the thrust bearing rubbing as well...
Alright guys, from the conclusions of other members/problems, with this particular sound, it turned out to be a turbo going bad. Not wanting to put this off til the weekend, i just rebuilt my spare turbo, and ready to removethe one in the truck. Not sure what happened, considering the one in the trucvk was rebuilt back in April Anyway, hope this works.
Will post inna bit, after install and cruise the streets some.
Alright dudes, trucks' idling away wit ha new/rebuilt turbo, with the XDP compressor wheel. We shall see, huh?
Hey, not bad huh, rebuild turbo on workbench, polishing out the exhaust side, then remove the turbo from truck ,and install new, along with hooking everything back up...i'm stoked.
Rods, if in fact, this noise is still there, then i'll contribute it to the foil delete...but man, noise wasnt there prior to popping the first turbo....
Then now you will hear what it was really foiled for! Sorry bought the demise of your turbo, have you done the autopsy yet! Sometimes it's difficult to get the turbine housing set properly
All done, Rods. And to the demise, the WHINE is still there.... I should've listened to you, to begin with. You aint related to Dangerfield, are you...no respect.
I'll try in the weeks to come, a "foiled" charged tube, see what happens, and in the meantime, i got a 4in piece of exhaust tubing. Gonna install it, with the stock intake tubing, see if that helps. I got the overpriced FIPK kit in now, but even with the FIPK kit, but the 6637 hooked to it, it still whined....trucks' just a baby i guess.
Or what you said, if people want this sound, rip the foil, add a XDP wheel, and you'll be set.
I have the same sound with a Gtp38r bb turbo. Been that way for 7k miles n I check the fins often. Had me worried,I was just on RRD site looking at turbos.
