1946 1/2 ton and modern tubes shocks in the rear

i have a 46 ford truck that i have a 9in rearend in... as anyone done this swap and added newer style shocks? looking for ideas of what kind of shocks to use. and how others have mounted them

I used 53-55 Ford F-100 shocks on the rear of my 49 F-1. It's a Chevy 10-bolt placed on top of the springs not a nine inch but the mounting would be similar. I got the spring plates from Summit Racing and the additional crossmember is common 1/4 x 3 inch angle iron...
