EOT and ECT Questions

EOT and ECT Questions

Six months ago i replaced egr cooler and oil cooler and soon after it started pushing coolant out the degas bottle replaced the degas bottle and done a flush with distilled water and ford coolant now dont seem to be loosing any coolant but today i hooked it up to check eot and ect and @full operating temp the eot was @261 and ect was 211 when the fan cme on it cooled it down to 241 eot and 191 ect so any input would appreciated

First.......check the temps after a cold soak to make sure it's not a sensor out of range. If the temps are very close when the motor is cold then you have serious issues. Either the oil cooler has replugged or your water pump is having flow issues.

Would be nice if you posted what your truck is. 2003 and early 04's had weak water pumps. always supply as much info as possible.

my truck is a 07 f350 4x4 with a 6.0

Do you have any warranty sounds like you may need it, need to have it looked at before the oil cooler pops and you have a real mess.

No warranty truck has 143k miles. Let the truck set overnight and @ cold start up it showed eot 79 ect 59. Now what?

Compare with ambient temperature and see which sensor is biased/bad. They should be virtually identical. Starting out at a 20* delta definitely indicates one of them is bad. Also, make sure that the scanner you are using is accurate by verifying with another scanner.

So temp outside in the mid 40s would you think it would be the eot sensor as it was showing 79

The Ford IDS system? Nice!! It should be able to tell you if the sensor is faulty, at least I would think so. You might also try an infared/laser scanner to read temps independantly. Fairly easy to shoot them without removing anything.
