Grille Guards

HELLO GUYS! I was thinking about installing a Grille Guard, on on my Super Duty, and would like to see some pictures. I was thinking about a powder coated one. Not chrome because of the rust. So Let's see those Guards.

You would be better off posting up in the Super Duty forum.

Only type of grill guard I would consider is one thats welded to one of those custom fabbed bumpers. Bolt ons are flimsy and do more damage than they prevent IMO.

Depends on the bolt on, the one piece units are pretty beefy, the 3 piece that everything bolts together aren't as good. Have a Renegade on our F450 and it has held up great, have some side pics but nothing from the front. I'll try and remember to take some tomorrow.

I have a Warn Transformer on my 06, I dont have any pictures yet, but its really strong, and I like it. Its the 3rd one I have had on a SD. It held up well, and didnt rust. I have to have Stainless due to road salt up here, I had a powder coated one on my 150 and it rotted in a year.

I will try to post a pic of it for you as soon as I can find my camera, Im remodeling my house and Im not sure where it is.

I couldn't disagree more. A full replacement is stout and tough, but many times not needed. A guard is just that: a guard to protect the front from damage when pushing open gates, driving through brushy areas, and will protect the front just fine in the event you need to push a cow out of the way.

Either way, both guards and full replacements have a purpose and it centers around work that the truck does. Don't get either for crash protection. It is not what they are meant for.

Here is my guard. If you get a guard, make sure it is a one piece design like a Ranch Hand.

Took a few pics this morning:

Was only around $500 when I got it 2 years ago and has taken more hits than most people will ever see.

Which vendor makes the guard you have on your truck?

I like the brush guard and need to replace the one on my F-250 AND need a new one for the F-150 Larry the wife has.

We don't have a ranch BUT we have lots of feral hogs, deer and coastal birds in the bar-diches. Hit one 10-15 pound sized bird coming back from school one night and it bent the bars on the pass. headlight side... but saved me from replacing a head light assembly!....

Also have huge hawks that dive bomb, may be training to work for Achmed ( I keel U!). Which one totaled and scared the crap-olah outtah me as the pass. mirror got about a 5 inch hole and well feathered out..ha.. and totaled out.....

Anyway need two of them and the one on your truck seems to fit the bill. Have no need for the bumper replacement unit.

Thanks....

C-man....
