Idle problems 92 F150 V8 5.0

My '92 has been having a hard time idling since a couple days ago. The check engine light has also been on so I brought it into the shop this morning and they pulled like 4 codes that were all related to the emissions system and he said that something with the EGR has carbon build-up and they would need to chisel it out and replace it for $215~ with labor. I think he said the EGR/intake port but I can't remember. He said the 1 code for that was triggering the other 3 codes throughout the emissions system to pop up.

Anyways, back to the idling part of it.. For example, this morning when I cold started my truck, it was dying out and I had to rev the engine for a few seconds and then it was fine. Same thing when I just left college a little while ago to get home. Seems to happen now whenever the engine is cold. Seems to run alright while driving, except for sometimes when I let off the gas it seems to start bogging down.

So what I'm trying to determine is that if these two things are related? Any idea if this EGR thing is causing the dying idle?
