[QUOTE=_Me2_;10933149]Hopefully, he will find that the temps stay in a healthy range and there won't be anything to worry about after all.

I hope so to. I will post temp spread after coolant is added.
My next oil change I'm changing from Delo 400 15/40w to Rotella 15/40w syn. I will post temp spread after that to.

Reason I didn't go back with stock cooler is bc I didn't want it to clog up an I have to tear into my motor again. I thought this cooler wood be a good alternative to the stock cooler an it wouldn't clog up. I wanted to do the BPD oil cooler kit. But that would have blown my budget for all my other repairs/upgrades I did. Only had about 2500$ to do Oil cooler. ARP studs. Head gaskets. Standpipes & plugs. STC fitting. Restore & VC-9 flush. SCT livewire tuner. Dieselsite coolant filter. Fuel crossover line. Got all of that done then waterpump went to leaking.

But for better or for worst, til death do us part, it's all together with not leaks.

Don't you mean 5w-40? If it's syn, it's 5-40. Organic is 15-40

what ive seen with my eot-ect delta is the higher the ect gets the closer together the spread becomes, until the load is off the engine and temps decrease, then of course the ect falls faster than eot.just my opinion, but i think as long as he doesnt see anything over 245eot loaded he should be fine.this is under the assumption that the egr cooler is getting plenty of flow.

Spring for the ELC, I did G-05 a few months back and now I have to eat that cost and flush/fill again with ELC...

If the cat EC-1 coolant isn't but a few $ more than zerex g-05. Then I will go with the cat EC-1.

None yet. Final Charge Cat-1 ELC coolant from oreylies will be in tomorrow. ScangaugeII from eBay was ordered today.

I want to check temp spread with the scangauge before I add coolant to get a baseline an see if temps go up any once I add the coolant.

I think as long as my oil temp will stay at 250 or lower that it will b ok.

I had a Chevy Blazer that always got to 300 degree temps while climbing and I sold it with 131,000 miles. These Diesels are much tougher.
Found this on Wikipedia:
In petrol (gasoline) engines, the top piston ring can expose the motor oil to temperatures of 320*°F (160*°C). In diesel engines the top ring can expose the oil to temperatures over 600*°F (315*°C).
