block heater plugs?

I bought my excursion about a month ago. I recently started looking for the block heater plug just to get things ready for winter and I can't seem to find it. Is there a specific place where the plugs are hidden? Do all of these 7.3 come with plugs?

Thanks

Bob

All 7.3's came from the factory with a block heater. It should have a cord in the bumper, where the licence plate and fog lights go.

If not you may need to buy a new one.

Reach in the bumper by the drivers side foglight/tow hook area. They are tucked in there hidden. It may still be secured to the harness if it has not been used previously.

Here is the location.

Look just above your oil filter for a orange cord. If you have one fallow it to the front and you will find the plug.

Here is a pic of the block heater cord where it connects to the oil filter housing, just follow it to the plug end. Hope it helps.

I have been reading all over the internet and have a question. I have a 2002 Ford F-250 Lariat 7.3L and cannot locate the cord at all. I have looked for at least an hour. I do see the orange cable/wire coming off the oil filter housing like the picture above but cannot track down the plug. If i buy a plug from ebay or where ever, will it plug into the housing that maevens posted above and replace that wire? Should I buy the whole heater assembly?

Take that Orange cord and fallow it to the front you will find the plug. I would not spend the money on a new one since you already have one on the truck.

I'll keep looking. Did Ford really need to make it that hard to locate? Wait, we are talking about Ford... Grrrr

I got it jacked up and chased the wire from the oil filter housing all the way to the front drivers frame rail where it goes over the top and down to the two fog lamps. There is a 1-2 ft loop that has not plug and goes back the same way in which it came. No plug from Ford for some reason. The question I have now is when I buy a new cord to replace this will leaving the OE cable in tact, because God knows where it goes cause any issues?

just ordered the cord from O'Reilly's for 21 bucks and it will be in tomorrow.

Zerostart® 3600008 - Power Cord | O'Reilly Auto Parts

So if I unplug my wire harness coming out of the warmer, will there be any issue to just tie it up and install the new cord?

that cord from Oreilly does not look like the same one in the picture from post #5???

Did you find the End of the cord that comes out of the 'block' heater. It should have an 'end' to it and a electrical plug on the end of it. Find the 'End' and install a plug on it if it has no plug. By saying that it is going back the same way that it came out (from the loop) find where it goes and you will the a loose end......

I was thinking that too and that perhaps the wires come out of the element in post #5 and this cord goes in there? Not sure where this would go then.

The cord can be purchased separately and plugged into the heater you already have. You can order one from any truck dealer by asking for a phillips & temro (zerostart) cord #3600008

Damn ... someone beat mo to it.
