Name is Ryan and I am new to the forum. Looks to be a awesome place with tons of info.
I have the opportunity to pick up a 05 4x4 excursion. If I do get it, I am wanting to lift it. I am looking at a 10-12” lift to run 40”s with a 20” wheel. I have talked with the two best shops around my area and have got a few different answers.
1) Icon 8” spring kit with 4” hangers, new steering system set up, indexing ring with new tc crossmember, lengthening front DS and convert to CV style shaft in the rear, brake line and other misc. stuff.
2) BDS 10” spring kit with 2” hangers and basically the same stuff as #1
Which way would you go if it were your car? I have never owned a all leaf spring truck, so I am curious how this will ride once lifted. Can anyone give me some insight in this aswell. Any other advice would be appreciated
Not lift related, but I don't know if you already have a lead on your rims, but I have a set of nice 22's I'll make you a Smoken deal on if your interested. Let me know here or you can text or call 801-940-6201

There are other Options out there as far as to lift it. but those two above you mentioned are the pricier ones. To be honest a lifted Leaf Sprung truck is not the most comfortable ride. no matter how much work you do to it. The only true way to get to ride plush is do a full on Coilover suspension. Fabtech makes a great system for it. but its pricey! 6" 4.0 Coilover w/ Dirt Logic Shocks & Rear Leaf Springs - 2000-05 Ford Excursion 4WD
With that in mind dont get me wrong. a leaf sprung lift can ride OK as long as you got the right combination on the springs/shocks(most important part) My EX has a 10inch lift im using Fabtech Components with Atlas Springs. i got also 6 ProComp shocks. the only thing i would do to my lift is upgrade to King Reservoirs shocks (but again they get pricey)
I'm with Daz on coilovers. If I had the money I would switch to that setup. But for leaf springs I like the BDS setup. I have been looking at them too.
I had the 8" fab tech coil over system on my f-250 and loved it. But as yall have said, they are pricey! What exactly would need to be done to add to a smother ride with leafs? I was hoping to spend a max of 6k for the lift installed (which is around the price for the lifts I posted). I would prefer not to spend the money if the ride will be that rough.

Thanks for the replies
Shocks..(good brand leaf springs)...oh and Shocks! lol.....Reservoirs set ups is the way to go for performance and comfort. $6k for a lift is not bad (if that includes resevoir shocks).
