Unhappy p208c help!

Hi all,

new member but searched the site for info on the issue im having and didnt find any.
I have a 2011 F-250 SD 6.7l that I have been assigned at work. I have a CEL and used the IDS program to find that in addition to a bad headlight switch, LH steering wheel switch pack, a LR wheel speed sensor and a tire pressure monitor fault called out on the IDS program, i have a P208C, Reductant pump circuit low, and a P20A2, reductant purge control valve circuit low codes. I dont have access to any other code info other than IDS, so I dont know what it really means. My last work truck for the same company was a 2010 6.4l SD, that ran like crap. Apparently they figure if they rotate all of the work trucks through me Ill fix them, but for the time being, this is my truck and if the 6.7l is as impressive as ive read on here, im not terribly impressed. Im sure its due to lack of maintenance, we have an identical 6.7l that absolutely shreds, and both are bone stock. Im thinking its some sort of limp mode because i can barely get over 2500 rpm and about 18 pounds of boost out of it with the loud pedal to the wood. These trucks idle half of their lives. my 2011 has 3221 hours on it and has idled for 1620 hours prior to it being assigned to me. Any info on these codes would be greatly appreciated!

Limp mode? Low fuel pressure?

Sounds like a blown HPFP to me...now...where have we heard that one before? Good luck with the warranty...

Previous post means a circuit issue. Not the sky is falling there Henny-Penny.

That is a little bit of a jump there from a reductant pump code now isn't it? Vloney's screen shot tells you that the vehicle may be operating at reduced power with that code.

This fiasco reminds me of early in the football season when the Steelers complained that the Ravens were chop blocking. I have never seen that called in pee wee football before, but wouldn't you know it we saw it for the next three weeks. Our most ardent defender of the 6.7 platform has gone rogue and I can't really say that I can blame him given his situation, but I could really do without all the sheep!

Its amazing the difference in the systems one model year can make! 2010 dosent have the DEF system and was relatively easy to fix without having to resort to removing the cab. On the 2010, I replaces the HFCM, due to lack of maintenance and ran 16oz. Of power service white bottle through it and it resolved itself. This one I don't have access to the system schematic to allow me to verify voltages at the PCM. it runs ok, no misfires no hard start symptoms, fuel economy based on the ICP IS right around 13.5 mpg. No mysterious smoke on start up. And I still have cruise control functionality. Just seems to lay over with low boost pressure and not much runout. Its a hard failuresince it comes back immediately when cleared. And shows up as pending in the IDS system once cleared. My suspicion is a harness issue, or ref. Voltage issue since the vehicle has been in for an auto start issue causing a no crank, no start symptom about 2 months ago. Anyone have access to the system schematics so I can get this resolved?

thanks for your help!

Hi,

So far ive found that the reductant is Fords term for DEF...go figure! in your reply you had a screen shot of the code description and saw that it had a pin point test listed and other items. Do you have access to the system diagrams for the reductant system that you might be able to part with? This poor truck has been run pretty hard but i believe it to be something simple, based on what I know about the truck prior to it being assigned to me. I believe it to be a broken wire or a corroded connector since it involves the reductant pump and purge vavle that allows the system to pull DEF back into the tank at shut down to reduce freeze ups of the fluid. Thank you in advance for your great help!

Yes! The reductant pump was not receiving key in power. Was not able to locate the break in the wire, wound up installing a new wire from the good side. All was right with the world! Have since left the oilfield and now own my own fleet shop!

Thanks for the quick reply! Seems like the first thing u would check especially if I had the pinout for it. Wonder why it took my local ford dealer 2 hrs to miss diagnose. Lol. Anyone have a pinout for that harness?

Hey darren32
I confirmed I have no power at VPWR pin 3 of the reductant pump. Pump checks out. Working my way up the harness. Do u know this wire starts? Must be a fuse no?
Thanks
