going with auto, which ranny
i have a 77 f100 witha 351m 4spd 2wd, and i want to go with c6 tranny, but i dont know much about this trucks so any advice, i want something that is strong and fast, i will rebuilt the transmission before install, and i might rebuilt my engine or install a 460 later. Also what stall to go with and shift kit. Thanks

c6 with a shift kit will work well for you but going from a manual to a auto you probebly will need the cross member and a speedo cable as well also a rad with the cooler or an aftermarket set up personaly i would stay away from the "stall converters" as they generate too much heat for normal every day driveing my 78 with 501 cid/500hp/c6 w gearvenders overdrive works just fine off the line with the stock converter

most pickups 79/79 should fit your engine 351/400m 460 just make sure you get the ring gear and converter you will also need a auto trans steering columm or a floor shifter of some type i would look for a 351/400 m parts truck that way you have every thing you need
