I use my 84 f250 for a beach truck with a slide on camper. If I go over a bump I feel the camper and bed are going to tip off while the cab is still. Why so? And also the cross member that has support to hold the side tank up. Has anyone had to make one at home due to rust?! Thanks
The frame and bed will twist some, especially if you have the camper tied to the bed instead of the frame. Of course if you look under the truck and see a lot of rust holes in the crossmembers, that's not a good sign. Could be time for another truck.

The bed is indeed independent of the cab, and is mounted with only 8 bolts. If one mounts the camper to the bed, expect it to move some. And being a beach truck, it maybe getting some rust under there. I disagree with Franklin2 about getting another truck, though, and suggest pulling the bed, repairing any rusted areas, using some POR15 to keep future rust at bay, and driving it for another 25 years.
Well so far I have taken the bed off and I'm KBS coating the frame and then going to look under the bed, the camper it's self has a hook up to the frame that keeps it from "rolling off" but I just feel the bed twist to much.. I'm going to check the cross members that set onto the frame and perhaps weld a brace underneath like they do for the 5th wheel hitches Thanks
