I am only curious. I have heard that these early 99 PSD had lower hp rating then some of the latter ones and wondered what I could do to up the rating.
I will give Clay a call and find out what he thinks.
Tell Clay how much HP you want and I bet he can give a real accurate quote on how much it will cost. Money buys HP.
BTW, my VC says 250 and the vin decoder says 235. But after spending a couple of bucks the dyno says something quite different.
I remember reading that some of the 99' trucks had the wrong number on the stickers.
I wouldn't have thought that a 250 sticker was even around in Mar '98.
It is the original VC and sticker. I wonder if the fact that is was produced for Canada would make a difference.
Truck was asemmbled at the Jefferson County, KY plant.

Here's the door sticker in English and French.
It is strange. Every thing I read says the 99' had 235hp. Even the link I posted says so. I don't know why they would put 250hp on the sticker, but like said, the vin says 235hp.
Perhaps someone know the facts and will enlighten us.

All I know is, most of us are running at least 100 hp over what the factory sais...
No, not me. I appreciate the reliability more than smoke coming from the pipe
Beside putting new compressor wheel my engine is all stock. At least that what I assume since I bought it new. The PO was utility co so not likely they chip the engine to the degree I can not see the addition.
Than I am comparing PSD to other vehicles and seems to me I must have very exceptional engine. Not only runs perfect at 280k, but it really pulls not only 10,000 lb empty, but 30,000 + lb loaded.
Well I have an E99 (8/98) too and my valve cover says 250hp. And I looked at the door sticker and it does NOT have the Canada sticker. And I too have the cat sticker on engine that is why when I replaced the exhaust system I keep the cat just incase Mr. EPA and the state of Indiana ever wants to be a pain in my rear.
And unlike you guys I am still running stock hp For now!!! But it still pulls my boat without a problem and truck and boat/ trailer are 20,000 lbs.

Thanks for the info Ed.
Good luck with the towing.
Have you ever decoded the VIN to see what it says for HP?
If you find a new sticker for the valve cover let us know. I would like a noncat sticker for under the hood and valve cover. My early 99 has the cat too.
Chet
They can use the vin to see if theres a Cat, but I haven't seen them do it yet here and I've been going to a check only station. You know its only for our, or my piece of mine and anything can happen.
