Heads back from Machine Shop...Which side is which? Pictures!

I just got my heads back from the machine shop today. I had them all marked up so I wouldnt forget which is which but of course they went through the bath and now I have no clue. The only clue is that little pipe coming off the one. I would assume that means it is the passenger side head and the end with that piece faces forward? Just making sure.
Other than that im ready to go. Been waiting 2 months now for the bore and head after I blew the engine. Not going wild but a few upgrades. bored .020 over, rosewood single shots, rebuild kit, and dp tunning. I will keep you posted on how it goes because im sure ill have more questions but heres some pictures so far and the piece im talking about.

The BAD!

Also, is this little gap between the top of the headgasket and the top of the block usual? And do I leave the thin metal rings around the cylinder holes on the headgasket in or do i take them out?

just looked at mine and yes that's where that pipe is. Looks like a hose goes off that to the heater core if I'm not mistaken.

Leave them in. They are the seal for compression.

That hose barb is pass side. Turn the motor over and you'll see why that ring is there. The piston actually sticks up out the block about a 1/16 of an inch. Good luck. Just curious, what did the head work run ya? Block?

Thanks for all the help guys. Better then second guessing myself. The block to clean, bore, and hone was $500. Both heads for valve jobs, resurfacing, injector tubes, and seals was $800. Putting some $$ into the truck but hopefully it will last for a long time.

Did you do anything to your cooling jets to make sure that they don't fall out?

Why aren't the headgaskets cleared for the pushrods right? The holes are in the wrong spots.
