Tank selector valve

Does the fuel gauge switch tanks when the selector valve switches? Both tanks worked on the gauge until I switched it today from the rear to front tank. My fuse blew at the same time and now it's stuck on the front tank. I'm guessing that the valve is stuck now and needs to be replaced. I just want to be certain that the fuel levels moved by the switch or the valves electronics. Also, I found this. I'm wondering if it's going to work with the stock plug.

What year truck do you have? The late 80s stuff just uses a fuel powered valve, the pump that is on is what switches everything.

Later trucks (90s) use one way valves on each pump and have no valve at all. Just a switch.

It would help if you gave some details on model and all that good stuff. There are SEVERAL different switching arrangements used from 87 to 96/97..

I'm sorry I didn't see the invisible signature.

Did anyone else see it before it disappeared?

Disregard what I said, it was for gas powered rigs. I have no experience with the 90s diesel arrangement.

So does that mean on my truck it's as simple as replacing the fuel pump? Or is the one tank filling up the other a different issue?

That would be a faulty check valve
