Maybe it's quiet because everyone is in fear of bitter modererator reprisal if they make a comment that is not "offroad truck related" in any thread, especially considering all of the never seen "new" people in the forum. Just sayin......
I am bored! I was hoping Tom wouldve got back to me by now on the bolt dimensions so I could see if something could be made while I'm at work. I hate just sitting around with nothing to do.
That's something that seems to hold its value really well.
"Cheap" would be $1800-2000 and then you'd pretty much have to buy new pistons to match the current, or necessary clean-up, bore. New blocks are about $2300 now and you could quite possibly make up the difference by using whatever size pistons you can find used and then having the new block bored to match.
I never said what bore I need. I got a new rotating assembly in the works, but no pistons yet. I kinda need the 4 bolt block to handle what I'm gonna throw out with A heads and the frosty jug
Too many variables to consider when buying a used block, hoping to find also find matching components to work with your build versus starting fresh with a new block and a used rotating assy of matching components.
I think its the smartest and cheapest way to reach your end goal.
What happened to the stock 4 bolt block you were supposed to buy a few months back?
If you're really bored, come help me change the cab mount brackets on my wheelin pig... I'll even sharpen the cold chisel for ya
I need to install a HVAC system too... Going to be doing some winter wheeling this year, so it's going to be necessary.
The dude is trying to get new a460 block price for an .080 d1 block that was 4 bolted. Just too much money for a maxed out thin main webbed block.
I've got the deal on new forged crank and rods. Holding off on pistons until I get the block. Pistons will be new customs anyways, so the used block is not a big deal when I have open access to the machine shop now.
Bored at work = getting paid to make bolts to help our poor pitiful moderator get his truck back on the road. Found a few small jobs to keep be busy until 9.
Karl, why would the pistons have to be custom? Awful lot of A-head pistons up for sale in various bore sizes and 12-13.5:1 comp on 429-460 alone. I'm pretty sure I saw that Dave has some.
you could come film me whooping my closest neighbors *** and possibly young ex marine that wont leave me alone
my driveway goes in both directions to the nearest road to my house i was nice enough to allow him to use my driveway thats in the halfish mile length untill he decideds to fly up and down it... ive already yanked him outta his truck a couple months ago

work was hectic the past 2 days, i just got in from 4 am.
the bolts are at the body shop on the other side of town. i will try to get over there tomorrow.
but someone (larry maybe?) had a good idea about using a piece of pipe as a spacer/guide for in the t-case.
