MSD 6A

Just did major tune up. MSD 6A, blaster coil,
Ford racing 9mm wires "which fit perfect", accel
cap & rotor, autolite plugs. Local speed shop said
didn't need to buy the more expensive plugs because
it wouldn't matter with the MSD ignition. And believe
me this set up did wake her up, I don't know what kind
of horsepower it gave the truck all I know is, it will
now smoke the tires off the rims and I used to just
chirp them off the line. Anyway enough with my happy
results. Can anyone tell me what to gap my plugs at.
They say to go from 5 to 15 over stock right now I'm
at 5. Haven't tried the others yet, didn't know which
would be best. Timing ? Plugs ? Oh yeah my idle jumped
about 500 rpms when I started the truck. Thanks in advance.

Did you have any problems with your RPM's when you
installed the MSD ? Maybe my truck was just so far
out of tune.

Gapped over stock? Wouldn't that lose power? For some performance I like the NGK-TR66.

Stock timing is 10* BTDC, go to 14* but you'll have to run 93 yet have more power.

If your idle jumped check timing and idle screw.

You want to increase the gap of the plugs because there is a lot more power being sent to the plugs. It will not hurt performance, it will increase performance. The MSD is an Amplifier as well.

Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .

Check out my Gallery for a look-see.

Hey, Hit Man thanks for the timing tip, gonna bump
it up to 14 whenever the rain stops. Mustang, thanks
to you as well I knew you would show up. I put the
MSD on because you have praised it so many times and
guys he was right. But I still don't understand why
my RPM's went up and all I did was a tune up.
