The switch for the heater in my 1966 f100 is missing. I see from the wiring diagram that it is just a simple switch with a resistor inline for low speed. Since I can not find the switch for sale easily, I was just going to make a new one, maybe even install a variable resistor dial for multiple speeds. Does any know what size resistor was in the original switch?
Is your heater a deluxe or standard heater??? I have a switch/cable setup for a deluxe as well as a resistor...which are located on the heater case itself.
I repaired one in an older C***y one time by taking a paper clip and twisting it to resemble the existing rotted one and was able to solder it back in to bridge where the original had broken. I didn't think to take a reading at the time but it could not have been much more that an ohm, perhaps less. It was for the middle speed.
At this point I not sure it matters if its deluxe or standard. When I got the truck it had already been stripped out. I have the basically two wires coming out of the heater motor and a lever on the defrost/floor vent box.
I think just a simple 3-way switch could be the simplest answer.
Applications: 1965/66 F100/1100 with Deluxe or Economy * Heater / 1965/67 Econoline.
The switch does not include the ****, bezel, retaining nut, U shaped mounting bracket and the clip & screw that attaches the switches Bowden cable to the heater box, all of which are prolly missing on the OP's truck.
* This switch replaced the Economy heater switch that was 24.75" long (1965/66 F100/250), 28.75" long (1965/66 F350/1100).

Note: The Economy heater has a manually operated shut-off water valve (C5TZ-18495-A -obsolete) that is spliced into the inlet to heater core heater hose.
The Deluxe heater has two cables mounted to a bracket, that bolts to the bottom of the dash...to the right of the steering column.
One cable opens/closes the damper door that allows fresh air to flow into the heater box.
T'other cable opens/closes the heater water valve (C3UZ-18495-A -available from Ford) that is spliced into the inlet to heater core heater hose.
Does anyone have any of these parts available, or know where I can get one, winter is hitting in Montana and mine just broke. The cable is working to push/pull the manual valve open, but the twist portion of the know that controls the blower motor has failed. Can you jump it as a temp fix until the part arrives? Please let me know as I need the defroster more than anything. Thanks!

The cable is working to push/pull the heater plenum chamber 'flapper' valve open, but the twist portion of the **** that controls the blower motor has failed.
The **** doesn't come with the cable, furnished by itself. It's retained to the shaft of the combo blower switch/temp cable by a set screw. Verify the screw is tight, otherwise the **** will just spin around.

This was a FoMoCo "service part replacement" for the original factory installed switch/cable. On some applications, it may have to be "cut to fit."
