Help, truck stranded me-update

I think you're right about sucking crap up, but it is possible. I hate to mention messing with any return lines, but it might help to put a clear piece off the top of the Filter head to see if any air is passing out there. If it is bubbling out of there then you have an air leak between the tank and fuel pump.

PS: If you think you found a leak, you can cover it with modeling clay to see if it stops.
