After the conversion check the clearance betwee the tranny dipstick tube and the downpipe. Mine touch because of the taller pedistal (it's actually about 1 1/2" taller). I keep meaning to get a new dipstick tube (99.5+) for clearance but haven't yet. For now I have a couple of 1200° splarkplug boot isolators slipped over the dipstick tube between it and the downpipe.
To get enough clearance you might be able to bend the dipstick tube bracket that attaches at a bell housing bolt or remove the top half (it's two-piece) and bend it. I haven't tried either of those two things. Trying to bend the dipstick tube in place did not work for me.
Thanks Robin had know Idea of that. I just hope my uppipes work. Got a set that are suppost to be 2002 but the one on the drivers side only measured 1/4" longer, at least on the truck. Haven't taken it off yet. Chet

Unless they changed the tranny dipstick tube between 3-98 and 9-98 it will rub on the downpipe. See what you can do wih the dipstick tube bracket before you get the downpipe on. It's tough to get to that bracket with the downpipe installed.
Only a 1/4" more length on the uppies is going to be a problem since the pedistal is about 1 1/2" taller. Once the E99 stockers are off than you can get a real comparison. If you had the bucks this would be the perfect time for the bellowed uppies.
