The previous owner had the rear pinion seal protector (a white plastic ring thingy) and seal destroyed by some barbed wire. He replaced the seal but the protector ring didn't show up until after the work was done.
I'd like to put the new protector ring on but more importantly, I want to make sure the proper torque process is used. Is there a write-up about how to change the rear pinion seal and how to properly re-torque the nut when you cannot rely on the current torque value or orientation of the nut?
