When Al was a JR his father lived in a 12X12 (?) trailer in a impound yard I used to tow for. I use to think "how can he let his dad live like that while he is making lots of money?" It wasn't until many years later that I realized I knew nothing og their relation and I had NO right to judge anyone. His dad may have been the one to keep his distance.
That is the only thing I can add to this.

I do have a funny story however to share. A friend of mine was drafted in 65 by Oakland and during a practice some time later proceeded to hit Al in the head with a football. Got traded to Detroit soon after.
