Fluid Film is great stuff! Buy it for $8.99/can at the local John Deere dealer. I use about a can per vehicle and it does a great job for the entire winter!
My wife just called and said a "chemical sample of something" (her words, not mine) showed up today. I'm assuming it's the free sample of Fluid Film I PM'ed them about (they're a sponsor here at FTE).
My flatbed is going to be stored outside this winter so part of it's going to get done this weekend. I don't have a JD store near me so I'll probably order off of Amazon.
Hmm - Just noticed they're title refers to them as a former vendor.. Anyhow, I emailed the guy in this thread for the free sample (I'm ASSuming that's what showed up today, will confirm this evening):
I ordered a new trailer last week so Fluid Film sounds like a good idea for that piece of equipment when it gets here.
I have a TriGreen Equipment JD dealer nearby so I'll see if they carry the stuff.
I've only used the spray cans so I can't comment on how brushing it works. You can watch it react with the rust if there is any present. It leaves a wax-like coating and it seems to last a very long time. It neutralizes rust and seal it from moisture and oxygen to prevent further rust. The only downside is that it does attract dust.
I started using FLuid Film when my B&W hitch in typical B&W fashion started rusting at the ripe age of 4 months last winter. I generously coated the hitch and the truck frame around it and wound up with a lot of dirt and grime stuck to the residue. It's a small price to pay for quality rust protection!
